What size pig are you going to be regularly roasting? If you are only planning on getting a rotisserie motor for pig that is of a smaller size, then you don’t need a heavy duty rotisserie. A smaller rotisserie for home will due just fine. If you are looking at regularly roasting pigs that are over a hundred pounds or more, feeding a huge party, than you should invest in a heavy duty rotisserie that you would see at a luau.
How fast do you want your pig roasted? If you are looking at an all day roast while you are out and about, or you are roasting other things along with your pig such as pineapple, potatoes or other vegetables, that a slower motor will work just fine. If you are wanting it done quickly, than you should really consider purchasing a stronger, faster motor that will flash roast your pig quickly so that you don’t have to worry about waiting all day for your feast.
Where am I going to keep my rotisserie? A rotisserie is a large item that isn’t easily transported. Wherever you put is is where it is most likely going to remain. If you have a large rotisserie, where are you going to keep it at? A smaller, more portable rotisserie is something that you will be able to put in the shed if need be at the end of BBQ season.
What kind of rotisserie do you want? Not all rotisseries are for outdoor use. There are some that are made for in the house that you can roast piglets or even pork cuts on.
To buy or to build? Choosing to build a rotisserie can be a great project for the summer or spring time. In some instances, it may even be cheaper than purchasing a large rotisserie if you don’t need one. If you do choose to buy a rotisserie motor for pig, than make sure that you purchase the correct size for the amount you will roast.
